Care at Moonbelly Midwifery is personal, unhurried, and rooted in a deep respect for the natural unfolding of pregnancy and birth. From the first visit through the early weeks after your baby arrives, you are met with steady presence, clinical skill, and thoughtful, attentive care. This is a relationship-centered model-- one where you are known, where your questions are welcomed, and where your experience matters.
Beginning Together
Renewed Confidence, Restored Peace
Your first visit is offered at no cost-- a time to tour the birth center, ask questions, and sit together to see if this feels like a good fit. If you choose to continue, care begins with a thorough initial visit, where we take time to understand your health, your history, and your hopes for this pregnancy and birth.
Prenatal Care
Prenatal care is the heart of midwifery care, and it is both clinical and relational. Visits are spaced in a steady rhythm throughout pregnancy, allowing time to monitor your health and your baby’s development, while also preparing for birth and the postpartum season ahead. There is space here to:
ask questions
talk through decisions
prepare your body and your home
and consider what support you will need after birth
Care is offered in a familiar, comfortable setting, with attention to both physical well-being and the whole experience of pregnancy.
Birth
Birth takes place at Lynden Birth Center-- a calm, welcoming space prepared for the work of labor. You are supported throughout labor with steady, attentive care-- free to move, rest, eat, and labor in the ways that feel right to your body. Care is continuous and personal, guided by both clinical knowledge and a quiet trust in the design of birth.
Postpartum Care
Care continues well beyond the moment of birth. The weeks following are a time of healing, adjustment, and deep bonding—and you are not left to navigate this alone. Postpartum care includes ongoing support for both mother and baby, with attention to physical recovery, feeding, and the emotional transition into this new season. In-home support is available in the early days, with continued visits at the birth center as you recover and grow into your new rhythm.
Newborn Care
Your baby is cared for alongside you in those early weeks. This includes:
thorough newborn exams
weight checks
metabolic screening (PKU)
hearing screening
congenital heart screening
feeding support and guidance
All offered gently, with respect for your baby and your preferences.
Empowered Birth After Cesarean
For mothers who have had a previous cesarean, care is also available through an Empowered Birth After Cesarean pathway. This includes full prenatal and postpartum support, with time to reflect on previous birth experiences, prepare for what lies ahead, and be supported in both body and spirit. Birth takes place in the hospital setting, with continued midwifery support through pregnancy and the early postpartum period.
A Note of the Nature of Care at Moonbelly

The Vessel
God does not meet a woman by sparing her from the experience, but by entering into it with her.
The labor is not punishment-- it is initiation. A breaking open. A fierce awakening of love so deep a mother would give her life without hesitation for the child within. —excerpt fromThe Vessel of Christ, by Mary Green.
